Benefits of Counselling
The experience of exploring your thoughts and feelings with another individual can relieve the sense that you are entirely alone with your problems.
It can often be difficult to find the words to explain how we feel, or even understand how we feel ourselves, let alone explain to those around us. These confusing emotions can make us feel isolated and unable to talk to those closest to us. A Counsellor can help you find the words for those feelings and emotions, bringing some clarity to your world.
The counselling relationship gives you the opportunity to express yourself to someone who is separate from the rest of your life, who won't be overwhelmed or shocked by what you say. There are times when the understanding of a good friend may be just what you need. However, when the degree of emotional pain and the severity of symptoms suggest a problem of a greater depth, you may feel that your pain, anger or confusion may be too difficult for a friend to listen to.
Talking to a counsellor can help you resolve emotional conflict, change negative thinking and behaviour, and support you in making positive choices. Counselling can help integrate difficult and painful experiences, enabling you to enjoy a more fulfilling relationship with yourself and others.
Greater self knowledge and understanding can enhance your relationship with yourself and others and improve your sense of choice and self esteem. This in turn can cultivate the feeling that life can be enjoyed rather than endured.
Many situations in life leave us feeling powerless, resulting in feeling that we have no choices. My hope is to help you move from a position of self doubt or insecurity to one where you feel more in control; to give you back choice in your life and hopefully the confidence to use that choice.

Just like the phoenix we have the strength to transform and renew. We too can rise from the ashes and become who are meant to be
